ECD-Policy (PDF)

In December 2015, Cabinet approved the National Integrated Policy for Early Childhood Development (ECD). The approval of this Policy initiative, the first in the history of our country after the dawn of democracy, is a culmination of many years of hard work to ensure a better start for a better future for many of our children. A range of research studies and Policy declarations around the world assert that early learning opportunities make a real and lasting difference in children’s lives. In this regard, government is fully committed to providing the building blocks for access to quality early stimulation, education and care for all the children, with particular focus on children in vulnerable communities.
